May 31st – Rosemary is for Remembrance – 1:00 – Lunch will be served from the garden and our program will respond to the question, what can you do with a simple sprig of Rosemary?  We will learn how to grow it from seed as well as from cuttings.  Then we will take our discussion to the dinner table and to the artist’s hands.  Cost $20.00.  Reservations required.

June 7th – 1:00 – Cilantro and Dill, the Freshest Tasting Herbs – 1:00 – Lunch will be served from the garden.  Our program will address the issues of choosing the right varieties and growing techniques of these two herb garden favorites.  We will discuss the fresh versus dried question and taste the difference.  Cost $20.00.  Reservatons required.

June 13th and 14th – Sunflower Cottage Lavender Festival. 

  • Pick your own lavender.
  • Lavender cooking and crafting workshops.
  • Lavender wands, lavender wreaths and bulk lavender. 
  • Hardy lavender  plants.

June 28th – Tarragon, the King of Herbs – 1:00 – Lunch will be served from the garden.  The French call tarragon “the king of herbs”; but, is it underused in our country?  It’s somewhat licorice flavor has a way of making almost any food taste wonderful.  Cost $20.00.  Reservations required.

July 9th – Tea Room reserved by the Old Fredericktown Garden Club from 12:30 until 2:30.

July 12th – Cooking with Edible Flowers – 1:00 – Lunch will be served from the garden.  Edible flowers are more than just beautiful garnish for your dishes.  They add flavor, texture and aroma that no other food can mimic.  Cost $20.00.  Reservations required.

July 19th – Drying Flowers and Flower Arranging – 12:00 –Don’t wait until your flowers are spent to cut, use and dry.  We start when they are at their peak.  Learn drying techniques and easy arranging tips.  Cost $15.00. Light lunch included.  Reservations required.  

August 23rd – The Fragrant Garden, by Dr. Wendell Combest of Shenandoah Univeristy – 2:00 -  High Tea will be served in honor of Dr. Combest.  This is an amazing program which includes a slide show from his garden tours in Europe, his own presentation of actual scents and fragrances and his delightful, entertaining presentation style.  Don’t miss it!  Cost $25.00.  Reservations required.

September 20th – 12:00 until 9:00 PM – Food and Wine Celebration.  Watch for more details on this new event for the Sunflower Cottage.  We will feature chefs from local restaurants, locally grown foods and wine from all over this wonderful world.

October 4th  - Herbal Soap Making –2:00  Cost $20.00.  Reservations required .
 
October 25th – Haunted Gingerbread House Workshop.  9:00 until 5:00.  Come and go as you please.  Lunch will be served at 12:00.  House parts will be provided.  Instructors and  gingerbread dough will be available to assist you in creating your own pieces and constructing your haunted house.  All candy and frosting will be provided for decorating.  Cost $45.00 plus $5.00 for each child accompanying an adult.  Reservations required.

November 1st  - 2:00 - Cookie Class – Cost $20.00 RSVP

November 15th – 2:00 Cookie Class – Cost $20.00 RSVP

November 17th –  The first of our poinsettias, Christmas cactus, cyclamen and dish gardens will begin to arrive.  Churches may place orders for Christmas Poinsettias at discounted prices.  Contact Billie at 540-869-8482.
