The Virginia Herb Festival at Sunflower Cottage

June 11, 12 and 13, 2010  from 9 AM until 6 PM each day

Save these dates!  The annual Virginia Herb Festival will become your new favorite summertime event.  Last year it was featured on Fox 5 DC morning news, the Winchester Star, and Martha Stewart Living Radio.

Herbal crafters and product vendors, thousands of herb plants, pick your own lavender, gardens, local artists, wine tasting, tea tasting, food, music, educational workshops and the chance to learn about the Shenandoah Herb Society.

High Tea will be prepared from the garden and served all day.

Events Calendar for 2010

Bring your group of friends on the date of your choice and learn to prepare the following menu from the herb garden.

Appetizer:  Savory Cheese Cake

Soup:  Cream of Sorrel and Pumpkin

Entrée:  Braised Sea Scallops with Basil Butter and Baby Arugula

Dessert:  Lavender Crème Brule

A full demonstration will be given on each course and we will feast on the lessons.  Just call 540-869-8482 to arrange for the date.  The cost per person is $35.00 plus tax.

March 31 - 10:30 Wholesale herb farm tour.  See our wholesale operation from propagation to shipping.  High tea and shopping to follow.  Cost for the high tea is $18.00 plus tax.  Prepay.

April 9 – 1:30 Sand cast stepping stones.  All materials provided to make your own cement stepping stone to take home.  Instruction only (no lunch).  After today, you will be able to do this at home and have exactly the type and number of stepping stones you desire.  Wear old clothes and leave plenty of room in your trunk to transport home.  Cost $25.00 per person.  Prepay.

April 23 – 11:00 Fairie Garden Container workshop.  We will provide the container, potting soil, decorative gravel and instruction.  Participants will purchase the plants and accessories that they want.   Lunch will follow.  Cost is $25.00 per person.  Prepay

April 30 – 1:30 The Joy of Herb Container Gardening.  We will provide a ten gallon container, the potting soil, five herbs; help with planting and discussion on the uses, care of and harvesting of herbs. Workshop only (no lunch).  Cost $28.00 per person

May 9^th – 11:30, 1:00, 2:30 – Mother’s Day High Tea – 3 seatings – Cost $25.00 per person includes tip and tax.  Prepay
